New York City Pride March is an event celebrating the LGBTQ community; it is one of the largest annual Pride marches in the world, attracting tens of thousands of participants and millions of sidewalk spectators each June.

The route of the Pride march through Lower Manhattan traverses south on Fifth Avenue, through Greenwich Village, passing the Stonewall National Monument,[6] site of the June 1969 riots that launched the modern movement for LGBTQ+ rights.

This year New York State anticipates the largest international Pride celebration in history: WorldPride NYC 2019 will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising.

The first March was held in 1970 and has since become an annual civil rights demonstration. Over the years, its purpose has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those we have lost to illness, violence and neglect.

The March is a celebration of the lives and community of LGBTQ+. In 2018, the parade was joined by over 550 unique marching contingents, representing a vast array of non-profits, community organizations, corporate sponsors, small businesses, political candidates and activists! With over 100 floats making the trek along the route, last year's March was one of the largest and most exciting in history.
